How to close more deals
Prove your value pt. 2
In today’s newsletter we’ll talk about 3 AI tools to turn the business case you generated last week into an interactive ROI calculator.
As always you can jump to the part you care about:
Last week, we discussed how to use AI to create a well-written and thought-out business case showing the ROI you bring to businesses.
While giving an executive all the information he needs to make a decision.
And presenting the cost of inaction.
Helping you to stop losing deals to indecision.
And even though doing only this will improve your conversion rates significantly.
We don’t need to stop here. We can take it a step further.
We can create a tool to increase certainty and conviction in your prospects.
And there’s no better tool for this purpose than a ROI calculator.
An ROI calculator is one of the most powerful tools I see companies neglecting.
It’s the easiest way for someone who landed on your website,
Or someone you’re trying to close,
To justify investing more time, effort, and money on you.
An ROI calculator is a simple tool where the user can input their current numbers, expected improvements, and automatically understand their return.
What makes this tool so powerful is the psychology behind it.
By allowing prospects to visualize and build an ROI you tap into 3 cognitive biases:
The Vividness Effect - Vivid, memorable information disproportionately affects our decisions and judgment.
The Ikea Effect - When we take part in building something, we value it more.
The Generation Effect - We tend to believe conclusions more if we generate them ourselves.
You give them the illusion of control.
It’s no longer you telling them how much money you will make them.
Now they can see it for themselves. With their numbers.
That they came up with.
Plus this is the #1 rule of communication.
Show, don’t tell!
However, despite how powerful an ROI calculator is, I often see businesses without one.
And I get it, in the past you had to think of all the possible variables.
Then build the formula..
Then program it into code…
Then figure out the hosting…
Then…
Well, I think you get my point.
It was time-consuming and a hassle.
But there are no excuses any more.
Because now you can build an ROI calculator in 5 mins.
Here are 3 ways you can do it:
1) The Easiest Minimalist Way
The easiest way to build your ROI calculator is by going to Claude and following up on last week’s prompt.
As a reminder, Claude 3.7 sonet, is one of the best models for writing and programming.
It was my favorite model to build your business case.
You can read the last newsletter here.
Once you’ve edited the case study to your liking or you’re done prompting the AI,
Follow it up with something like this:
Claude will open up a window next to the chat and get to work.
It will create a minimalistic, easy-to-use ROI calculator.
You’ll be able to preview it once it’s done.
Then you have 3 options:
1) Keep asking for changes and customize to your liking.
2) Hit the publish button on the lower right-hand side and publish it as a Claude page.
3) Copy the code and send it to your team so they can upload it to your website.
You’re done! Now you have a fully functioning ROI calculator you can share.
You can close this email and go do this right now.
But, I mentioned there were three options.
The next 2 are for if you want to have better design or add more functionality.
2) The Easiest Deployment:
One of the downsides of using just Claude is you’re limited.
While it will work, the design doesn’t inspire confidence or professionalism.
To achieve this we should use a dedicated tool for coding.
Something like v0 by Vercel.
v0 is a coding AI. You tell it what you want and it will code it for you.
It’s great at creating astounding user interfaces, in as little as 5 minutes.
To use v0 go to Vo.dev,
And type in this prompt on the chat box:
Copy and paste your business case in the prompt.
You can also edit the prompt to follow your brand or any other specifics.
After you see the results, ask for edits to get the page how you want it.
Once it has reached the level of your liking, you can click deploy on the top right.
It will launch in one click with Vercel, for free.
Vercel is a hosting platform with a very generous free tier.
I will not get into how to use it in-depth in this newsletter.
You can search on YouTube.
But the important part is that it’s very easy to use your custom domain on Vercel.
So now you can build a beautiful tool,
edit it to your liking,
and add it to your website in less than 15 minutes.
v0 is free with a limited amount of back and forth you can do.
3) The Best All Around
Saving the best for last, use Lovable to impress with the least effort possible.
Similar to Vo - Lovable is an AI where you can create web apps by typing what you want.
What makes it better, is how easy it is to use and how good the outputs are.
When using the same prompt as above, Lovable went beyond V0 creating 3 tabs.
One with the ROI tool, one with the business case, and a third with a sign up form.
Plus designed the best looking ROI calculator in the first attempt.
To use Lovable, go to lovable.dev and use the same prompt:
Lovable also makes it incredibly easy to deploy once you’re ready!
Click on publish on the top right-hand side.
You’ll have 2 options:
1) Deploy as a lovable website.
2) Deploy with your own domain name.
To deploy with your own domain, click on configure domains and follow the steps provided.
Now you know how you can build any website without writing a single line of code!
Lovable is also free with a limited amount of edits you can ask for.
Warning:
Don’t forget to double-check the math on your ROI calculator is correct!
Until next week!
