3 AI prompts for self-improvement pt 1

Hi There,

In this 3-part series of the automated salesman newsletter, we’ll go over 3 AI prompts you can feed ChatGPT to help you overcome limiting beliefs, develop better habits, and create a roadmap to sales success.

Today we’ll start with removing limiting beliefs.

As always feel free to jump to the part you care about:

Sales is competitive.

It attracts ambitious people who all want to claim the title of #1.

It’s not rare you constantly find yourself in a mental competition.

Against your peers. Against your prospects. Against the market.

Reps will often talk about their standing in the company:

“Feels good to be #1 this month.”

Your boss will tell you to get one over on your prospects:

“Convince them to buy, and make them use our terms.”

And your CEO will constantly sing about how to beat a bad landscape:

“We just have to do more prospecting.”

We use acronyms like MEDDPICC to find gaps and beat competitors for contracts.

We create spiffs and competitions to motivate sellers.

Like in the movie Glengarry Glen Ross:

“First place is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anybody want to see second prize?

Second place is a set of steak knives.

Third prize is your fired? You get the picture.”

And just like in Glengarry Glen Ross some companies take it further…

firing the bottom 10% every sales cycle.

And the worst thing;

Even if you excelled once, the scoreboard resets every month or quarter.

It all adds up to create an unhealthy environment.

With a huge amount of stress and burdens for us to carry.

No wonder why a lot of sales reps end up with unhealthy habits.

So what’s the answer? Do we accept the environment and cope with drugs or alcohol?

Are we destined for a life of constant stress and worry?

This is a problem to which I’m not sure anyone has the answers.

But from what I’ve observed the absolute best reps.

The top 1%.

They move past external competition.

The only competition they see is themselves.

They become obsessed with getting better.

Improving their skills, bettering their knowledge, and developing bigger agency.

Increasing their focus, removing obstacles, and becoming a better person.

They constantly reflect on where they could be better.

And they develop plans to improve.

They develop healthy habits that not only lead them to success in their career.

But also in their personal life.

They do this because they realize the best investment they can make is themselves.

Be it with their money, their time, or their effort.

They spend thousands of dollars on education, coaches, and psychologists.

They develop a mindset that makes them a feared opponent.

And powerful individuals.

So how can you and I emulate this behavioral pattern?

Well, you don’t need AI for this.

All you need is a willingness to learn and a determination to get better.

All the resources are out there.

Books, videos, courses, and anything else you can imagine.

But what if you don’t know where to start?

Or you’re early in your career and don’t have the money to invest?

What do you then?

Well, just because we don’t need to use AI, doesn’t mean you can’t.

Or even shouldn’t.

In this 3-part series of emails, we will discuss how we can use AI to overcome limiting beliefs, create healthy habits, and develop a tailored roadmap to sales success.

Today let’s talk about limiting beliefs and how they are holding you back:

Limiting beliefs are your worst enemy.

They are your negative beliefs about yourself or the world around you.

The reason why they are so deadly is we rarely know we even have them.

Limiting Beliefs are silent killers.

They have usually been with us for so long, sometimes from our childhood, that instead of beliefs we see them as fundamental truths.

Even though they are not.

Limiting beliefs holds such a strong power over us they dictate everything we do.

They can prevent you from becoming #1.

Asking for a raise.

Or challenging a client.

If there’s something you haven’t achieved in your life, it’s because you hold a strong limiting belief about the specific goal.

Thoughts as:

“I’m not the kind of person who gets promoted.”

“I need clients to like me.”

“I’m just not the type of person who likes to push back during negotiations.”

“John is just a better salesperson than I, there’s nothing I can do.”

“Sarah gets all the good opportunities, of course, she’ll do better than me.”

“I just always get skipped over, it’s just my luck.”

And the list goes on…

There are thousands of these beliefs in our heads, but a couple hold us back.

And just like matter, they can’t be destroyed.

But they can be transformed.

The way to get rid of our limiting beliefs is to re-frame them.

To look at them from another perspective that benefits us.

So now we know what to do.

But it’s still easier said than done.

How can we identify the few that matter and reframe them?

Well, we already have the first part down, by knowing what a limiting belief is it’ll be easier to remove it.

Now let’s use AI to pinpoint the specific belief you hold and re-frame it into a positive belief:
PROMPT
I’d like you to act as my personal mindset coach, focusing on my sales career. I suspect that a specific limiting belief might be preventing me from reaching my full potential. Let’s collaborate in an interactive conversation to uncover and transform this belief. Here’s how I’d like our session to flow:

1. I will start by sharing my sales goal (e.g., a specific quota I want to hit, a professional milestone, or a skill I want to develop).

2. Please ask me clarifying questions about my goal, my current sales experiences, challenges, and any fears that might be contributing to a limiting belief.

3. I will respond to your questions, and we’ll continue our back-and-forth dialogue until we can pinpoint exactly what limiting belief is holding me back.

4. Once we identify that belief, guide me through a practical, step-by-step process to reframe it into an empowering belief that supports my success in sales.

Finally, help me create a realistic plan or set of actions to reinforce my new belief and accelerate my progress toward my sales goal.

Let’s begin! First, I’ll share my sales goal: [Describe your sales goal in detail].

Describe your goal in detail to ChatGPT.

Can be your quota. Your income goals. Or professional goals.

And then have a conversation with it. Just like you would do with a mentor.

ChatGPT does a great job of finding the limiting belief and re-framing it into something positive.

Here’s the one it found for me:

“I don’t have the experience to close big deals, so I shouldn’t pursue them.”

And here’s how to reframe it:

“Experience comes from action. I’ll take swings at bigger deals, learn what works, and become the rep who can close anything.”

This is one of the most powerful prompts I’ve shared in the newsletter.

It’s like having your own performance psychologist at a fraction of the cost.

Tip: You can also enable voice mode by clicking on the “use voice mode” icon in the bottom right and reading it to ChatGPT to have a more interactive conversation.

By removing limiting beliefs you’ll start feeling like a more empowered salesperson.

You’ll start growing out of your comfort zone and transforming into a more powerful individual.

Try it and let me know how it goes?
